FG Declares May 27 and 28 Public Holidays for Eid al-Adha Celebration
The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, as public holidays in commemoration of the Eid al-Adha celebration.
The announcement was made on Monday, May 25, by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Magdalene Ajani, in Abuja.
According to the Minister, the declaration reflects the Federal Government’s respect for the faith, values, and spiritual heritage of millions of Muslims in Nigeria and across the world observing the sacred festival.
He extended the warm greetings and best wishes of the Federal Government to Muslim faithful both within Nigeria and in the diaspora, urging them to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, obedience to Allah, love, and compassion, which Eid al-Adha symbolizes.
The Federal Government also encouraged Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for the nation and reflect on the collective pursuit of peace, unity, security, and national prosperity.
