NELFUND Begins Upkeep Disbursement to UNILORIN Students After Weeks of Anticipation

After days of anticipation, inquiries, and continuous engagement by students, the long-awaited upkeep disbursement has finally started reaching beneficiaries at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN).

Reports confirm that several students have begun receiving their upkeep payments from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), marking another major step in the implementation of the student support scheme for the 2025/2026 academic session.

This latest development comes shortly after the status of school fee payments on the NELFUND portal changed from “Pending” to “Disbursed,” giving students hope that upkeep payments would commence soon  a development that is now gradually becoming a reality.

While many beneficiaries have started receiving alerts, others are advised to remain patient as the disbursement process may occur in batches. Students are encouraged to regularly monitor their bank accounts, email notifications, and the NELFUND portal for further updates and confirmation messages.

Meanwhile, discussions concerning possible school fee refunds or adjustments are still ongoing. There are indications that the University management may either process refunds for affected students or possibly apply the already disbursed fees toward the 2026/2027 academic session.
