 UNILORIN Approves Review of Private Hostel Accommodation Fees for 2026/2027 Academic Session

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has approved a review of accommodation fees for privately owned hostels operating under the University's regulatory framework for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The approval was conveyed in a letter dated 6 July 2026, issued by the Student Affairs Unit, Office of the Vice-Chancellor, and addressed to the Chairman of the Private Hostel Owners Association, University of Ilorin.

According to the document, the approval followed a series of engagements between the University Management and representatives of private hostel owners regarding the prevailing cost of hostel operations and the proposed adjustment of accommodation charges.

Under the approved fee structure, students are expected to pay:

Room of Two (2): ₦306,637.50

Room of Three (3): ₦284,700

Room of Four (4): ₦255,450

The approved amounts comprise the hostel charge, caution fee, form fee, and utility fee.

A breakdown of the charges indicates that the utility fee remains ₦36,400 across all room categories, while the caution fee and form fee are fixed at ₦13,000 and ₦1,300, respectively. The variation in total cost is primarily determined by the room occupancy.

The University explained that the review applies to rooms accommodating two, three, and four occupants, respectively, and forms part of the approved accommodation arrangement for the forthcoming academic session.

The development comes as students continue preparations for the 2026/2027 academic session, with accommodation remaining one of the major financial commitments for many undergraduates.

Students are advised to confirm the applicable fees with their preferred approved private hostels before making payments and to ensure that all transactions are carried out through the appropriate channels.
