The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has announced that the newly completed Lagos Female Hostel will be available for allocation to female students beginning with the 2026/2027 academic session.

The announcement was made by the Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Morenikeji Alex Akanmu, during an inspection tour of the hostel facility. The inspection was attended by members of the University community, including the outgoing and incoming Presidents of the Students' Union.

Speaking after the inspection, Dr. Akanmu expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness of the facility, affirming that the hostel is fully ready for occupancy ahead of the new academic session.

The outgoing Students' Union President, Mr. Adelu Idris, commended the University Management for delivering on its commitment to improving students' welfare through enhanced accommodation. He described the completion of the hostel as a landmark achievement that would significantly benefit female students.

Similarly, the incoming Students' Union President, Mr. Mozeed, welcomed the development, noting that the additional accommodation will help ease the pressure on existing hostel facilities while providing students with a comfortable and secure living environment.

Designed with modern facilities, the Lagos Female Hostel has the capacity to accommodate over 1,000 female students, representing one of the University's most significant investments in expanding on-campus housing and improving students' welfare.

The commissioning of the hostel is expected to increase accommodation availability for female students and further strengthen the University's commitment to providing a conducive environment for teaching, learning, and campus life.
