 Finally, NELFUND Begins Upkeep Disbursement to Student Loan Beneficiaries

After weeks of anticipation and repeated assurances from key stakeholders, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has officially commenced the disbursement of upkeep allowances to eligible student loan beneficiaries.

The development comes after beneficiaries patiently awaited the resumption of payments following delays attributed to upgrades of the agency's payment platform. Earlier, NELFUND, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), and NELFUND Ambassadors had assured students that the issues affecting disbursement were being addressed and that payments would resume once the upgrade was completed.

With the disbursement now underway, many beneficiaries have started confirming receipt of their upkeep allowances, bringing relief to thousands of students who depend on the monthly support to meet essential academic and living expenses.

The commencement of payments also fulfills earlier commitments that all outstanding upkeep allowances owed to eligible beneficiaries would be processed as the upgraded payment system becomes fully operational.

Beneficiaries who are yet to receive their upkeep allowances are advised to remain calm and continue monitoring their bank accounts, as disbursements may be processed in batches.
