Thousands of beneficiaries of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) have begun the week with heightened anticipation as they await the commencement of long-overdue upkeep allowance disbursements.

The expectation follows a series of assurances from key stakeholders, including the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), NELFUND Ambassadors, and NELFUND, all of whom have indicated that the payment process is set to resume following the successful completion of upgrades to the agency's payment platform.

NANS President, Comrade Olushola Oladoja (Babtee), recently disclosed that the platform upgrade had been completed and expressed confidence that upkeep disbursements would commence between Monday and Friday of this week. He also assured beneficiaries that all outstanding upkeep allowances would be paid once the process begins.

Similarly, NELFUND Ambassadors have continued to reassure students that the temporary delay was due to technical improvements aimed at enhancing the efficiency, transparency, and reliability of the payment system. The ambassadors have urged beneficiaries to remain patient while the agency concludes the final stages of the rollout.

NELFUND has also maintained that the platform upgrade is intended to improve service delivery and ensure a smoother disbursement process for the growing number of beneficiaries under the student loan scheme.

With the new week underway, many students are closely monitoring their bank accounts in anticipation of payment alerts. The upkeep allowance remains a crucial source of financial support for many beneficiaries, helping to cover transportation, feeding, accommodation, and other essential academic expenses.
