NELFUND Begins Payment of Student Upkeep Allowance

NELFUND Begins Payment of Student Upkeep Allowance

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has commenced the disbursement of upkeep allowances to eligible student loan beneficiaries across the country.

The payment, which is part of the Federal Government's student loan programme, is designed to provide financial support for students' day-to-day living expenses, including feeding, transportation, accommodation, and the purchase of study materials.

Reports from beneficiaries indicate that the upkeep allowance has started reflecting in their bank accounts, marking the beginning of another phase in the implementation of the scheme. The disbursement is expected to continue in batches until all eligible beneficiaries have been credited.

Students who are yet to receive their upkeep payments are advised to remain calm and continue monitoring their bank accounts, as payments may not be processed simultaneously. Beneficiaries should also ensure that the bank details submitted during their application are correct to avoid unnecessary delays.

NELFUND reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that eligible Nigerian students have access to financial assistance that will enable them to pursue higher education without undue financial hardship.

The student loan initiative remains one of the Federal Government's key interventions aimed at expanding access to tertiary education and easing the economic burden on students and their families.

Students are encouraged to follow official NELFUND announcements for updates on subsequent disbursements and other developments regarding the student loan programme.
