UNILORIN Warns Admission Seekers Against Fraudsters
The University of Ilorin has issued a fresh warning to prospective students, parents and guardians to be cautious of fraudsters who may attempt to take advantage of the ongoing admission process.
The University’s Admission Officer, Mr. Abdulkareem Kunle Sanni, gave the warning during an appearance on Table Talk, a current affairs programme on UNILORIN 89.3 FM, on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
According to Sanni, the University’s admission process is highly organised and automated. He stressed that no candidate is required to make any payment before being offered admission into any course of study.
He explained that admission is based on candidates’ overall performance at O’Level, UTME and Post-UTME, with offers going only to candidates who meet the required criteria.
Ignore Unofficial Admission Information
The Admission Officer also urged candidates and their parents to disregard information that does not come through the University’s official website and recognised communication channels.
With admission processing now underway following the recently concluded Post-UTME screening exercise, candidates are advised to be particularly careful about individuals promising to “help” secure admission in exchange for money.
Sanni further encouraged candidates who are uncertain about any admission-related information to contact the Admissions Office directly rather than relying on unverified sources.
The Admissions Office, he disclosed, remains open for physical enquiries between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on working days.
For Every UNILORIN Admission Seeker
As admission offers begin to roll out, candidates should remain patient, regularly monitor their official admission channels and, most importantly, keep their money away from anyone claiming to have the power to “buy” or guarantee admission.
Admission is based on merit and the University’s established process, not on promises from agents or fraudsters.
