Relief for UNILORIN Students as NELFUND Finally Disburses Upkeep Allowance
After weeks of anticipation, beneficiaries of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) have finally begun receiving their upkeep allowances.
The disbursement comes as a welcome relief to many students who patiently awaited payment following the recent upgrade of NELFUND's payment platform. As payment alerts continue to drop, several beneficiaries have confirmed receipt of their upkeep allowances, marking another milestone in the ongoing nationwide disbursement exercise.
In addition, the University Management had earlier announced that the 2025/2026 tuition fees paid by NELFUND on behalf of eligible undergraduate beneficiaries will be carried forward as their school fees for the 2026/2027 academic session. For final-year students, who will not be returning for the next academic session, the University disclosed that the tuition fees paid through NELFUND will be refunded, with the refund process currently underway.
Students who are yet to receive their upkeep allowances are advised to remain patient, as NELFUND has maintained that payments are being processed in batches and more beneficiaries will be credited as the disbursement continues.
The commencement of upkeep disbursement at UNILORIN provides much-needed financial relief for beneficiaries and reinforces the continued implementation of the Federal Government's student loan programme.
