 Vice President Hands Over Office to Teenage Girl, Reaffirms FG’s Commitment to Girl-Child Education







In a symbolic gesture highlighting the Federal Government’s dedication to promoting girl-child education, the Vice President yesterday received a delegation from PLAN International at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.


The delegation was led by the organization’s Director of Programme, Quality and Innovation, Helen Mfonobong Idiong, and discussions centered on strengthening collaboration towards advancing educational opportunities for girls across Nigeria.


During the visit, the Vice President invited a teenager, Joy Ogah, to take over his seat and act as Vice President for a day, addressing the nation on issues affecting the girl child. The act was aimed at inspiring young girls to aspire to leadership and public service roles.


In his remarks, the Vice President reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to the advancement of girl-child education and empowerment. He commended PLAN International for its continued support and contributions to improving educational access and equality in Nigeria.


He further assured the delegation that the government would sustain its partnership with PLAN International and explore avenues to implement their recommendations effectively, ensuring that policies reflect inclusivity, empowerment, and quality education for all.
