Usman Danfodiyo University Hospital, Sokoto (UDTHS) Gets New Heads Of Finance And ICT Department 

The Management of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Hospital, Sokoto has approved the appointments of Mr Emmernuel Dika Mshelia and Hajia Umaimah Bawan Allah as head of the Finance and Accounts and that of Information and Communication Technology Departments of the Hospital, respectively. 

In their separate appointment letters signed by the Director of Administration, Alh. Faruk M. Umar, said both appointments are with effect from 1st July, 2024. The letters read in parts " Kindly note that your appointment is purely on merit in acknowledgment of your professional and administrative capabilities which management expected you will bring to bear fully in justifying the conference it reposes on you "

Mr Emmernuel Dika Mshelia, an experienced and certified National Accountant, began his accounting career at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital in the year 1995/96 as a youth corps member and was subsequently offered automatic appointment following his hard work and dedication to his primary assignment. He rose through the ranks to become Deputy Director of Finance and Accounts in the year 2023.

Mr. Mshelia, a graduate of Accounting from the prestigious University of Maiduguri, was appointed Head of the Finance and Accounts Department as a sequel to the retirement from the service of the erstwhile Head of the Department, Alh. Umaru Muhammed Suru upon attainment of retirement age, on 5th June, 2024.

A committed new Head of Finance and Accounts has worked in different Divisions, sections, and units of the department and gained experience, knowledge, and skills that will guide him in providing new ideas and innovations in the efficient and effective management of the scarce financial resources of the Hospital. He is happily married and blessed with children. 

Similarly, Hajia Umaimah Bawan Allah, a software specialist and programme analyst started her 23years working career as programme analyst II in the year 2001 at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto, and rose through the ranks to become Deputy Director Programme analyst in 2024. She holds BSc. and MSc. in Computer Science from the prestigious Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. 

Mrs. Bawan Allah has worked in different Units of the ICT department where she participated actively in most of the digitization projects of the operations of the Hospital. These include; the computerization of the Finance and Accounts Department, Hospicare, Osoft Health-in-Box, and projects among several others.

The appointment of Bawan Allah was sequel to the demise of the Head of the Department, Alh. Sulaiman Isah on 25th May, 2024 has been deputizing and heading the software development unit since the year 2017.

 

The new Head of the ICT department has attended many seminars, conferences, and workshops on ICT and management within and outside Nigeria. Among these include; the 2012 PHP and MYSQL workshop organized by Koenig Solution, New Delhi, India, and the E-Nigeria workshop organized by NITDA, Abuja. She is happily married with children and grandchildren. 

The management of the Hospital congratulated the newly appointed heads of department and urged them to use their knowledge, skills, and experience in the promotion of the Hospital's goals of providing qualitative tertiary healthcare services that are accessible, affordable, and equitable to Nigerians.
