AIRFORCE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (AFIT) MATRICULATES 1319 STUDENTS FOR THE 2023/2024 ACADEMIC SESSION







The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) Kaduna, today, 2 March 2024, matriculated 1,319 students into its various degree courses regulated by National Universities Commission and diploma programmes supervised by the National Board for Technical Education for the 2023/2024 academic session.

The Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Professor Kabir Bala who was the Guest of Honour congratulated the students and urged them to take full advantage of the hybrid nature of the Institute to read, study, make good grades and be ambassadors of their homes, school and the nation. He charged the students to have an active social life with their fellow students without losing sight of their academics. According to him, it is in the university that they will form lifelong relationships that will impact positively in the years to come. He pledged his continued support and assistance to the ideals and aspirations of the Institute.

Earlier, the Commandant, Air Force Institute of Technology, Air Vice Marshal Sani Labaran Rabe, in his opening address encouraged students to seize every opportunity for growth, challenge themselves to excel, and embrace the spirit of innovation and collaboration that defines AFIT. While congratulating the students, the Commandant noted that out of over 6,000 applicants, they are the fortunate few that were availed with the opportunity for academic advancement. According to him, as they have embarked on a journey of discovery, learning and self-development, he has no doubt that their time in the Institute would be transformative. 


In his remarks, the Provost of the Institute, Professor Auwal Kasim emphasized that AFIT has zero tolerance to any form of violence (Physical and verbal) indiscipline, cultism, examination malpractice, drug abuse and improper dressing amongst others. The Professor Auwal also stated that the Institute operates a very rigid regulation with respect to students discipline and conduct throughout their stay, as they themselves would have gleaned from the students handbook, code of conduct for students as well as the oath of allegiance which was just administered to them. 

Prominent among the highlights of the matriculation ceremony was the presentation of souvenir to the immediate out-gone Provost of the Institute, Professor Mohammed Dauda for his commitment and dedication during his five years of piloting the affairs of the academic branch.
