The University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) College of Nursing Sciences is delighted to announce the commencement of admissions into its highly sought-after Post Basic Gerontology Nursing Programme for the 2023/2024 academic session. This one-year certificate training programme, nestled within the Department of Post Graduate Nursing Studies, is specifically designed to equip aspiring nurses with the expertise needed to excel in the field of gerontology nursing. Graduates of this programme will be awarded the esteemed Registered Gerontology Nurse Certificate, paving the way for a career filled with opportunities to make a significant impact on the healthcare of older adults.

Eligibility Criteria: Academic and Professional Requirement

1. Hold five credit passes in WASCE/GCE/NECO subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. It is imperative that these qualifications are obtained in no more than two sittings. Applicants are required  to upload original scanned copies of their qualifications for verification.
2. Possess a Registered Nurse (RN) or Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNS) Certificate, which serves as a testament to their foundational nursing education.
3. Have at least one year of cognate experience post-registration, showcasing their practical involvement in nursing
4. Provide a reference letter from their last or current employer, affirming their competence and dedication to nursing.
5. Upload a current, valid practicing license, ensuring they are recognised professionals within the nursing field.

  6.Present a letter of financial support, confirming       their capability to sustain the financial          commitments of the programme.

HOW TO APPLY

• Sign Up: Initiate your application by creating a profile on the official UBTH College of Nursing Sciences website. Prospective students can find the application link here: https://ubthson.ng/gerontology_nursing_application/

• Activate Your Profile: Vigilantly monitor your email for an activation link and click on it to proceed.

• Payment: Once your profile is active, log in and navigate to the application form payment section. The application fee of 20,000 NGN is payable via REMITA, a secure online payment platform.

• Access Form: Successful payment grants access to the Gerontology application form.

• Complete Form: Fill in all required details diligently and upload the additional payment receipt of 500 NGN paid to the Nursing Council

Selection Process

Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will be invited for an entrance examination. The date, time, and venue of the examination will be communicated to successful applicants following a thorough screening process.

Application Deadline

The closing date for the submission of completed application forms is Friday, 23rd February 2024. It is advisable for interested candidates to submit their applications well before the deadline to ensure their participation in the selection process.
